Sloth's lazy image 'a myth'

The sloth's popular image as a lazy creature that sleeps for most of the day has been called into question.

Rather than snoozing for more than 16 hours a day, as observed in captivity, sloths in the wild doze for less than 10 hours, research suggests.

Scientists caught sloths living in the rainforest of Panama and fitted them with a device that monitors sleep.

The findings, published in a Royal Society journal, may help shed light on human sleep disorders, they say.

Lead researcher Niels Rattenborg, of the Max Planck Institute for Ornithology in Starnberg, Germany, said the study demonstrated for the first time that it was possible to record sleep in a wild animal.

My birthday

Last weekend was my birthday I was 16 years old. First I celebrated it with my friends and after with my family.

My birthday was Sunday but it started on Friday when my boyfriend callet me and said: Comes to the conrer , when I arrived with him he had a bag and gave it to me. It was a present: one jumper, and some earings I was very happy because I wasn't expecting them. Next day I celebrated my birthday with my friends. We went to the Chinese restaurant. It was very ood fun. They gave me presents too. After we went to the Saloon where the DJ put a birthday's song on for me at 12.00 pm. because it was already my birthday. Then a few people and I went to Chic It was fantastic night.

I love my friends a lot.

My family in animals

In my family there are 3 women and one man, my mum, my sister, my father and me. We live in Castelló but now my sister is studing in Girona and only cams at the weekends.

Now I'm going to describe them campared to animals.

My father is like a puma because he i a mechanic and his hands are black like a puma and he is independant like one.

My mother is like an ant because she is a hard worker and intelligent like one.

My sister is like a bee because she is very organised and she is bad temped.

And finally I think that I'm like a rabbit because I have fear of a lot but I like very much sport like a rabbit, because the rabbits are very playf

Have you ever been in Castelló before?

I have never been to Castelló before but twenty years ago I visited Madrid.

What have you visited?

I have visited the Basilica, the village, Figueres and Barcelona.

What it is the most interesting or important in Castelló for you?

The most interesting and important is the Basilica, it is amazing.

Do you think Castelló is known around Catalonia?

I do met know if Castelló is known in Catalonia perhaps Girona and Barcelona are more famous.

What do you think of Castelló's people?

I think the people here are friendly, but I do not speak Spanish or Catalan, so it is difficult to communicate.

Do you know anybody here?

My niece lives here, with her two children.

Do you know the different traditional events of Castelló?

I know they have a Medieval Market here and I would like to visit it one day.

Do you like Catalan food? What did you try?

I do like Catalan food, I have tired ali oli, Paella and fideuà.

Have you visited other places in Catalonia? Which places?

I have visited Figueras and Barcelona. I wanted to visit Girona but there was too much rain.

What do you like about here?

I like that the people, lifestyle and the food are different.

Would you recommend to friends to visit Castelló?

I would recommend to my friends to visit Castelló and other places in Catalonia.

Notting Hill is a romantic comedy film that a simple shopkeeper and famous woman fall in love. The story set in Notting Hill (London). The principal’s films stars Hugh Grant (Will) and Julia Roberts (Anna Scott).

Will have a little bookshop and Anna is an actress. They encounters for first time in the bookshop when Anna want to buy a travel book. Then they encounters another time in the street at breakfast time and Anna go to will’s house for change her clothes. There they kiss for first time. From this moment they often meet until he discovers that she has a boyfriend yet. From this moment, they not meet other time until a lot of time. Fortunately Anna comes back again for record a film and they encounter again.

I like this film a lot because I like the romantic and comedy’s films. And it explains the life of a famous person and compare to a simple person. The film is in London and I love this city and It remember me a fantastic moments and I would like live there for a little time.

My presentation

Hello, I’m Mireia Iglesias and I'm 15 years old. I live in Castelló d'Empúries with my family. I like do some sport and one of the best sport for me is dance and rowing. Last year I do three diferents types of dance I did contemporary dances, ballet and traditional dances but now I do traditional dances and ballet on Fridays. I do to rowing for one year ago before I tought that I wouldn’t liked it but now It’s my favourite sport. Every summer we go to rowing competitions, This year we wento to spain competition and we are 4th of Spain and we are 4th of Ligue too.

Now I’ve already submitted and I I’m going to tell you a little about me and my experience with English. We already know since 2^nd of ESO but now I think that I’ve improved my English. Last year I did the PET and I passed it. I think that it is important for the university and batxillerat.

And in a few years I would like do de FIRST exam but It’s very difficult. I go to English classes since I was 9 years old but this year I don’t go to particular english classes. I like english because It is a language widely spoken.
